12-year old Chinese virtuoso pianist Zhao Muzi took the opportunity to play an FT tune and share it with Frozen Taco. What an honor, huh? Maybe we can request a full instrumental version of Chorus of Echoes transcribed for piano. Or maybe we can have a few piano tracks on a new FT release sometime. Anyway, here’s “A Small Life” on piano (with the pianist singing along as well) for you to enjoy:
FT’s latest album, “Chorus of Echoes”, is now available in CD format. The price? ”Three dollars and we supply the CD”. :-p OK, that reference might be lost to everyone except us, but it’s a throwback to the funny high school days where we sold Frozen Taco cassettes for “One dollar and you supply the tape”. We’d collect the buck and tape, copy it, and return it. Pretty sophisticated, right? Well, seems we’ve progressed just a little beyond that, price-wise too.
A little about the album:
“Chorus of Echoes” is a simple and consistent album. The songs only contain acoustic guitar and voice. Each song is minimal in it’s expression of the idea presented. There are no long, drawn-out sections; each note and each word has a specific purpose, the absence of which would be noticed.
You can pick up a copy of the CD here.
For me, cranking out various kinds of sheet music is a great way to relax. Here’s the latest from the Chorus of Echoes album, “The Walk”. You can see a list of currently available sheet music on the album’s site.
The songs have been recorded, the edits have been made, and the album cover is complete (thanks to Jason Wood). Frozen Taco invites you to hear its first album in five years: Chorus of Echoes.
To commemorate the occasion, we’ll release one song per day, beginning on Tuesday, February 22nd, ending with the last song on Sunday, February 27th. Obviously, these songs are all free to download. We hope you enjoy these songs; please leave your feedback – we’d love to hear what you think.
Thanks a bunch! Hopefully, our next album will come out before 2016…
Here are a couple of pictures editing the new Frozen Taco album, “Chorus of Echoes”. We did all the work on a MacBook Pro running Ableton Live Suite 8.0, which includes numerous mastering features, all of which are much more sophisticated than anything that Frozen Taco has used in the past. Looking forward to recording some songs in this software as well!
There are two pieces of exciting news to share about the new FT album:
- The album now has a name: “Chorus of Echoes”. Look for an explanation of the title once we release the songs.
- Save maybe a few tweaks here and there, the mix is complete and finished.
So, what’s this album like? This is another short collection by Frozen Taco. There are six songs in total, but it terms of minutes, it is the shortest album yet, a record previously held by the four-song opus, Myth and Man. “Chorus of Echoes” clocks in at fifteen minutes and twelve seconds.
The album features songs in simple format, both in form and instrumentation. There is nothing but guitar and voice, a 100% acoustic album, which was our idea after recording Relic. Relic was when we first experimented with the idea of completely acoustic songs, but, as you can tell from listening, lots of electronic instruments sneaked in. Not this time; we kept the album pure.
What’s remaining? We’re excited to have our good friend Jason Wood working on the album cover. He’s been doing the FT artwork for years, we can’t wait to see what he comes up with for “Chorus of Echoes.” We’re also pondering a “making of” podcast which will describe music and lyric ideas behind each song.
